Ritract Limited was honored by Frost & Sullivan with the 2005 Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award for “its technological expertise in the disposable surgical instruments market”. The company’s safety products are based on Ritract Needlesleeve and Ritract Safety Syringe technologies:
The Ritract Safety Syringe requires standard single hand operation and no additional action to engage the safety mechanisms. Retraction of the needle is automatic and can be controlled by the user. Once an injection is complete the syringe is automatically disabled.
> The luer lock allows for easy change of needles and selection of the appropriate needle for each procedure.
> It works the same way as a traditional syringe. No special training is required.
> The user has full control over the needle retraction process and the syringe is automatically disabled.
> Simple design, high quality, cost effective manufacturing.
Needlesleeve provides a first line of defence against needlestick when used with traditional hypodermics. It has the potential to replace billions of unsafe needles.
The needle is covered in a fine plastic tube with the needle point protruding to allow penetration of the skin. As the needle is withdrawn from the patient, the plastic tube automatically slides over the needle point, providing a protective cover. This cover remains locked in place to protect both the patient and healthcare worker from needlestick injury on withdrawal.
> No special training is required.
> The safety mechanism is triggered automatically without the healthcare professional having to change the way they normally work.
> Needlesleeve technology can be applied to a range of devices including blood collection barrels, winged needles, intravenous infusion devices and hypodermics.
