dBusinessNews of Minneapolis reports that St. Jude Medical, Inc., announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the business of Velocimed, LLC.
Velocimed has three products in its portfolio: the Premere ™ patent foramen ovale (PFO)– the most common intracardiac congenital heart defect– closure system (pictured); the Proxis™ proximal embolic protection device; and the Venture™ guidewire control catheter for accessing difficult anatomy and crossing chronic total occlusions in interventional catheterization procedures.
According to Velocimed:
The Premere PFO Closure System from Velocimed is an innovative device designed specifically for PFO closure. The Premere has two independently placed anchors connected with an adjustable length tether making it adaptable to the patient’s anatomy for easier, more confident PFO closure procedures. The Premere is also designed to be fully retrievable and repositionable.
