Globes [online] reports that the Israeli company Glucone has been awarded a US patent for “the use of photoacoustic waves originating in the blood vessel to calculate the concentration of glucose in the blood vessel.”
The technology should relieve millions of diabetic patients from suffering a daily routine of self sticking to measure blood sugar. In addition, the continuous display of blood glucose should optimize the diabetic treatment. The company is working to bring its Glucose Monitoring Watch to the market in the future.
