We would like to introduce to you our new feature. Every Friday we will showcase a medgadget… one from the good old days. It is going to be a look at the days that have passed and technologies that have been forgotten. Some people tend to believe that new technologies can be overtly intrusive, or dehumanizing; that these new technologies make doctors less caring and less aware of what their patients are telling them. Others believe that doctors, relying on technologies, lose their diagnostic skills.
Nothing could be further from the truth. As technologies progress and the knowledge horizon widens, the information complexity increases and so does the ability of doctors to diagnose, to treat and to prevent the disease. After all, with more advanced technologies come better treatments and longer lives.
