TRUE2go: World's Smallest Glucose Meter Wins FDA Approval

Home Diagnostics, maker of diabetes monitoring devices out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has received FDA approval for two new glucometers. One is especially interesting as the company managed to create a glucometer small enough to screw onto the top of a test strip bottle. More convenience comes from the TRUEtest™ Strips that identify themselves to the device, dubbed TRUE2go, so there is no need to enter strip codes into the glucometer.

From the TRUE2go product page:

TRUE2go, about the size of a quarter, easily twists on to a vial of test strips so diabetics can better manage their diabetes with the convenience of on-the-go testing—it conveniently fits in a pocket, purse or backpack, so you can take it everywhere you go.

TRUE2go™ is part of the TRUEtest™ platform—a truly unique, nocoding system that makes it simple, convenient and cost-effective for diabetics to test their blood glucose levels more often. For at-home testing, there’s the companion TRUEresult™ Blood Glucose Monitor.

No-coding technology ensures the most accurate readings by eliminating the need for users to re-code the monitor for each new vial of test strips. This enhancement reduces the risk of inaccurate blood glucose results caused by miscoding or failure to change the code when a new box of test strips is used.

TRUE2go™ delivers precise results in as fast as four seconds using only 0.5 microliters of blood. Although tiny, it packs important features including easy-to-read display, test memory, strip release button and alternate site testing.

From the TRUEresult product page:

TRUE2go Fantastic...an improvement on the Side kick (which I have bought several of) because it can snap off one vial of strips and on to another. (The Sidekick was permanently attached to a vial of 50 strips.) No different than opening a regular vial of strips, good sized numbers...and quick...almost before you can blot the blood, there are your results. Takes very little room in your purse and doesn't have to be coded. Medicare pays.
