KFH Novo Wound Healing Device Approved by EU

Kingfisher Medical just received the CE Mark of approval from the European Union to market its Novo wound healing device. The handheld unit delivers small levels of electric current when placed in proximity to the wound, and that supposedly speeds up ATP production and overall healing of tissue around the damaged area.

The following is from the company's pitch:

  • Attracting the right cells to the wound area e.g. keratinocytes (cells which make up 90% of the outer layer of skin called the epidermis)
  • Stimulating fibroblast cells to activate wound healing
  • Increasing the production of ATP, providing energy to restart tissue healing
  • Increasing the blood and oxygen supply to wound beds
