NoseFrida: The Nose-Snot Eater

this thing sucks
You've gotta love a product that warns:

WITH THE FILTER IN PLACE, THE PARENT DOES NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE MUCOUS FROM THE CHILD.

We're referring, of course, to NoseFrida, the explosive Swedish device that lets you suck snot out of your kids' nostrils:
Nosefrida is a doctor recommended nasal aspirator that removes mucous from your child's nose. It was invented in Sweden by Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists, and has been used by Swedish Moms and Dads for years....

...Compared to the bulb aspirators on the market, Nosefrida is better and safer, since you never put anything inside the nose, and you control the amount of suction you apply. It does not irritate the sensitive lining of the nose.

Nosefrida is made out of non-allergenic and latex free polypropylene. The blue hygiene filters are made out of moisture absorbing polyurethane.

We are utterly blown away by this device. Not even Nostradamus could have predicted NoseFrida. But they've got testimonials from dozens of suckers, and even some tiny clinical trials supporting the product. We just don't have the heart to tell 'em that their product removes mucus, not 'mucous' ('mucous' is an adjective, as in 'mucous membranes' -- mucus is the noun.) But such differences are trifling when you're forming a conduit with your child's contaminated secretions.

NoseFrida, and your last shred of dignity, sells for $15. Shipping and Handling is another $4, though if they actually handled the stuff you'd want them to handle, it'd probably cost a lot more.

I used to read medGadget exclusively for the news - but I confess that the skewed sense of humor keeps me coming back....

I know someone that has this little snotsucker and swears by it. I'm getting one for a baby shower gift! It will be funny, but she'll realize later what a great gift it is....
