BPGuardian Measures Blood Presure Wirelessly

BPGuardian: kinda looks like a Nintendo Power GloveSunTech Medical and Empirical Technologies Corporation have teamed up to bring us the BPGuardian wireless blood pressure monitoring system...

Empirical's BPGuardian makes it possible to monitor blood pressure beat-by-beat and non-invasively without discomfort, using a portable device worn on the wrist. Information from the sensor is then sent via a Bluetooth connection to a nearby computer or handheld device, such as a PDA.

From Empirical's product page:

The device's signal quality is sufficiently high as to allow detailed contour analysis of the radial pulse shape, which is influenced by factors such as systolic and diastolic blood pressure, arterial distensibility and the pressure impedance effects of the artery/arteriole interface.

More from SunTech's press release and from Empirical's product page...
