Google Health Watch Continues

pulseless electrical activity
More on the Countdown to Google Health -- Thanks to tipster Robert Wingo, we learned about recent Google Health leaks -- he's been able to access google health results, at least intermittently, and posted some screenshots over on informaticsnurse.

The search results can be filtered, for patients or for health professionals. The patient's search results can be divided up into categories like "Symptoms" and "Treatment, while the health professionals section adds filteres like "patient handouts" or "practice guidelines" ...

If this is real, it's good. It's not as jaw-dropping as Google Earth or as innovative and useful as Gmail, but it's a start at categorizing the mountains of health info out there. Of course, health professionals know how to navigate this info better than the lay population, but we think the highlighted access to handouts and clinical trials will be appreciated by docs and nurses.

We look forward to seeing just how these filters do their jobs, and what sites getting favored status. Google Health could go live as soon as tomorrow!

Google health, Oh good god, whatever next!

However the more i think about it Google is ideally placed to launch a Medical Portal.

I am just watching for all the Google related health sites who are going to launch in response to the news.

So far all these domains are taken:

http://www.googlehealth.com
http://www.googlehealth.co.uk
http://www.googlehealth.net

Andy.

A friendly update from Nursing Informatics Online:

Garett Rogers has posted a reminder in his blog that the Google Press Day is scheduled for today at 9:30 AM PT. (And you can watch it via webcast)

There has been much speculation and hinting that Google Health will be announced during this event.
