Bone Injection Gun™

Filed under: Anesthesiology , Emergency Medicine , Military Medicine

Bone Injection Gun™The Bone Injection Gun™ is an automatic intraosseous (IO) infusion device from Israeli company WaisMed Ltd. IO route-- through a bone and into a marrow--could be used instead of IV when person is in shock and veins cannot be found. According to an article at Israel21c, this device is being used by the US Armed Forces in areas of combat, and it is also being used in Europe. The company unshamefully pitches its product as "the world's first user-friendly IOI device."

Yeah, for this, you're not going to care how painful it is. If you're responsive in the first place.

But I could've sworn that this wasn't the only automatic IO device. I swear there are others around.

Yep, Bravomedic is right. the EZ-IO by Vidacare is another one and it is the best. Easy and very pain tolerable.

The EZ-IO is slick, but what happens when you pull it out and the battery doesn't work. I don't need another piece of equipment to check every morning. Also the B.I.G. is less than half the price of EZ-IO

The BIG is so quick that it is nearly painless. I have seen 2 airforce PJs do them on eachother for practice.
